What is C-Dogs SDL C-Dogs is a freeware DOS game made between 1997-2001 by Ronny Wester, who's also known for making Cyberdogs (1994). Although relatively obscure, it was one of the more well-known games of its kind, and built a small following with many fans creating custom campaigns for it. Players loved it for its simple yet addictive gameplay and wicked explosions. The story would have ended there had Ronny not been awesome enough to release the source code in 2002. There it was picked up by Jeremy Chin and Lucas Martin-King, who ported the game to SDL and made it available for modern PCs. A few other ports came and went, for systems as varied as BeOS and Wii. Creation of terrain and clouds is now over 25 times faster, so even the weakest hardware on which we tried (A10-7850k) did the whole job in just 4.2 seconds. On this same hardware, earlier it took around 2 minutes for terrain to be created for the first time and cached. This also means that terrain caching is not needed any more. A side effect of this improvement is that we have halved the usage of system memory. In the meantime, a lot of things in the code was replaced, improved or added. Savage Wheels 1.5 Savage Wheels 1.5 Savage Wheels is a 2D car crashing arcade game, where up to 2 to 4 vehicles take part in a deadly tournament.The goal is to eliminate the other derby contestants. Players may choose from a variety of vehicles, each with it's unique characteristics like speed, acceleration, armor, damage and driver. Various bonuses may be collected during the match to increase the vehicle speed and damage or to repair it. Gameplay modes includes a campaign, hot-seat mode between two players or melee mode where other vehicles are controlled by fearsome game AI ;-). All vehicle drivers have their background stories, which are uncovered in the campaign mode. In Widelands, you are the regent of a small clan. You start out with nothing but your headquarters, where all your resources are stored. Every member of your clan will do his or her part to produce more resources - wood, food, iron, gold and more - to further this growth. The economic network is complex and different in the five tribes (Barbarians, Empire, Atlanteans, Frisians and Amazons). As you are not alone in the world, you will meet other clans sooner or later. Some of them may be friendly and you may eventually trade with them. However, if you want to rule the world, you will have to train soldiers and fight. Widelands offers a unique style of play. For example, a system of roads plays a central role in your economy: all the goods that are harvested and processed by the tribe must be transported from one building to the next.
